Vancouver’s COCO JAFRO brought a full house to Guilt & Company Saturday May 23rd, 2026
with a set that turned the room into a dance floor for most of the night. The atmosphere was warm, crowded, and energetic, with the audience packed in close and moving from the opening songs onward.
Fronted by vocalist Karina Morin and keyboardist Oysters Karl, the band leaned into the mix of styles that has become their trademark — funk, soul, Afrobeat, Latin rhythms, jazz, and Moroccan influences woven together into grooves built for live performance rather than careful analysis. The result felt loose, communal, and genuinely fun without ever slipping into nostalgia act territory.
Much of the band’s appeal comes from its rhythm section and layered arrangements. Guitar lines from Moroccan-born bandleader Amine Said pushed many of the songs forward, while Morin’s vocals kept the set grounded in melody and soul. The musicianship was tight throughout, but never overly polished to the point of losing spontaneity.
COCO JAFRO has developed a reputation around Vancouver festival and club circuits for shows that keep audiences engaged physically as much as musically, and this performance fit that reputation comfortably. By the end of the night, the dance floor was still full and the crowd showed little interest in slowing down.
