Concert Review: Coco Jafro and Friends Bring Funk to the Fox Cabaret February 5, 2026

A rainy Thursday night in Vancouver was no match for the energy inside the Fox Cabaret, where Coco Jafro headlined a lively triple-bill celebrating local, female-led talent. The dance floor stayed full as the band delivered a spirited set of funk-infused, retro-inspired grooves that had the crowd moving from the first song to the last.

The audience itself was a reflection of Vancouver’s tight-knit music community, with many local musicians in attendance. That sense of shared support added to the evening’s warm, collaborative atmosphere. Coco Jafro’s blend of throwback rhythms and modern flair proved especially danceable, turning the venue into a pocket of sunshine on an otherwise wet night.

The lineup also featured strong performances by The Royal Sundowners and Marlie & Co., making the evening feel like a showcase of the city’s diverse local talent. Credit goes to Michelle Reid of The Royal Sundowners for organizing a night that highlighted women in the local scene while delivering plenty of entertainment.

All told, it was a reminder of how vibrant Vancouver’s live music community can be when artists come together to support one another and share the stage.
