Peter White released his 17th album, Light of Day, on Valentine’s Day this year, and it is indeed a sweet treat for his many fans. The album features 10 new tracks, with Peter playing alongside some very talented friends, taking us on a musical journey from tender love songs to exotic locales like Catalonia.
One of my favourites is the sensual ballad “I Love You Still”, featuring Vincent Ingala on sax. Vintage Peter White paired with one of today’s hottest sax players makes for a potent combination. Peter also pays a heartfelt tribute to the late Nick Colionne on the soulful “Till I See You Again”, offering a glimpse into the influence Nick had on his fellow guitarists.
At WAVE 98.3, we immediately added “Catalonia”—featuring Rick Braun on trumpet—to our playlist upon receiving Peter’s new album, and it’s already proving to be a hit with our listeners. Another standout track is “Enchanted”, which features Ernie Watts on sax and is likely to become a favourite as well.
I find Peter’s newest album truly enchanting and can’t help but smile when he sneaks in some charming accordion moments along the way, including in the title track, “Light of Day”. I hope you enjoy it just as much.
