1. How old were you when you first started playing Trumpet?

Grade 9, 13 yo. I started on Cornet & switched to trumpet in grade 10.

 

2. Who was/is your biggest musical inspiration?

Early days it was Herb Alpert & Al Hirt. These days it would be Till Bronner.

3. Where do you make your home?

Toronto

 

4. Do you have any pets?

A Turkish Van cat named Mauritzio. She's polydactyl.

 

5. What is the best concert/gig you have ever done?

It's a tie. Gino Vanelli at the Rose theatre and Aretha Franklin at Roy Thomson Hall.

6. What is the best concert you have ever attended?

Maynard Ferguson at the Ontario Place Forum.

7. Do you have an all-time favourite song or album?

"Invitation" by Joe Sample. Beautiful arrangements of Jazz standards with a small orchestra.

8. What musician would you still most like to work with?

Herbie Hancock

 

9. If you weren't a musician what would you be?

Don't laugh, a secret agent. Realistically though, a landscape artist, which is a current hobby.

 

10. What is your favourite thing about Vancouver?

You can golf almost all year long and Wave 98.3 FM!
