
Ten Questions for Alexander Boyton Jr.
1. How old were you when you first started playing?
I was 9 years old when I started playing and writing little songs for Sunday school services in Los Angeles.
2. Who was/is your biggest musical inspiration?
My biggest influence are George Duke, Duke Ellington, 60’s and 70’s R&B.
3. Where do you make your home?
I really like the north shore of Vancouver.
4. Do you have any pets?
I have a Sheepadoodle named HANA
5. What is the best concert/gig you have ever done?
While I was in the Payolas we did shows in Ontario Place, Molson Arena and Pace des Arts. We (Payolas) opened for The Models, SuperTramp, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, Men Without Hats, 54-40, Loverboy and John Fogerty. I love the arena rock area so much fun.
6. What is the best concert you have ever attended?
Best concert I’ve attended were Gerald Albright, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire and Third World (“Now that we found love”).
7. Do you have an all-time favourite song?
Bill Withers “Lovely Day” and my original song “Doo Bee Doo Bop” produced by Jeff Lorber
8. What musician would you still most like to work with?
Late George Duke, Bill Sample, and Donny Hathaway
9. If you weren't a musician what would you be?
Engineer of some sort or a Doctor or Entertainment Lawyer.
10. What is your favourite thing about Vancouver?
The lush green trees, and the mountain and the ocean.
