Ten Questions for Les Sabler

1. How old were you when you first started playing guitar?
Nine. After watching the Beatles on TV on the Ed Sullivan show, like so many others I was inspired to buy a guitar and learn to play.

2. Who was/is your biggest musical inspiration?
I saw George Benson in a small Jazz club in Montreal in 1975 which really inspired me to get serious with the guitar and after hearing Larry Carlton with the Crusaders on the 1974 Southern Comfort album and later on his solo albums as well as Lee Ritenour's 1979 album Feel The Night I chose to develop my personal style by including elements from those three legends.

3. Where do you make your home?
Nashville. I moved here in 2014 and love living here!

4. Do you have any pets?
Two Havanese dogs - Elvis and Dolly

5. What is the best concert/gig you have ever done?
It is a tie with two concerts. May 5, 1995 at the Sarasota Opera House which resulted in my Live CD and most recently here in Nashville on May 4, 2023 at Cheekwood.

6. What is the best concert you have ever attended?
I have been to so many amazing shows over the years but one that really stands out was Leonard Cohen, March 18, 2013 in Tampa.

7. Do you have an all-time favourite song?
Follow Your Road by Seawind from their 1979 album Light The Light. That song has resonated with me since I first listened to it when it was released. I was very fortunate to meet Bob Wilson in 1996 and several years later I had the opportunity to collaborate with Jerry Hey on my Sweet Drive album. These were very significant moments in my life!

8. What musician would you still most like to work with?
Working with Paul Brown on my two recent albums Tranquility and Flying High was a wonderful experience and I look forward to continuing working with him in the future.

9. If you weren't a musician what would you be?
It is hard to imagine not being a musician however in addition to my music I own a sign and graphics business and really enjoy it. It compliments my work in music as I have developed relationships with many music related clients who have helped my music career!

10. What is your favourite thing about Vancouver?
I have been there several times and loved going to Grouse Mountain and Stanley Park.
